Bangkok, December 2, 2024 – The State Audit Office of Thailand (SAO), under the visionary leadership of Auditor General Mr. Monthien Charoenpol, continues to strengthen its commitment to modernization and efficiency by advancing the skills of its auditors through targeted training programs aimed at digital transformation. Recognizing the critical role of technology in contemporary public auditing, SAO Thailand is actively preparing its workforce to excel in Digital Auditing, a paradigm shift to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public sector oversight.

Empowering Auditors with Digital Skills

The SAO has implemented several initiatives to upskill its auditors, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to adopt cutting-edge auditing techniques. Key highlights of these initiatives include:

- Drone Integration for Audit Efficiency: The SAO has established a dedicated working group to explore the utilization of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, in auditing processes. The initiative is led by Deputy Auditor General Mr. Sutthiphong Boonnithi, who oversees efforts to develop drone-related skills, update technology infrastructure, and refine regulatory frameworks.

- Certification for UAV Instructors: Seven SAO officials have recently completed the Instructor Remote Pilot Certificate (IRPC: Multi-Rotor) program, certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand and conducted by the Defense Technology Institute. These officials are now certified UAV instructors, ready to lead drone-auditing projects and train their peers within the organization.

- Big Data and AI Adoption: The SAO is integrating advanced technologies such as Big Data analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze vast datasets, detect anomalies, and identify risks more efficiently. Training programs are being organized to ensure auditors are proficient in using these tools.

Sustainable Development Through Knowledge Sharing

To ensure sustainability, the SAO has prioritized the development of a knowledge-sharing ecosystem. Internal workshops, seminars, and training programs are conducted regularly to disseminate best practices and technological know-how. These activities aim to build a culture of continuous learning, fostering an agile workforce capable of adapting to the rapidly changing audit landscape.
