On October 1, 2024, representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) engaged in discussions with the State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand (SAO). The representative from FBI highlighted the FBI’s commitment to combating transnational corruption. Discussions focused on tackling abuse of power, corruption, and fraud in the public sector, alongside international asset recovery.
Key points from the FBI included capacity-building initiatives, collaboration under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT), and participation in global networks like the International Anti-Corruption Coordination Centre (IACCC) and the EGMONT Group. These efforts aim to enhance evidence-gathering, legal proceedings, and financial intelligence-sharing.
The SAO presented its organizational structure and anti-corruption responsibilities, emphasizing its audit functions and reporting mechanisms to Thailand’s National Anti-Corruption Commission.
Both parties identified compliance and forensic auditing as priority areas for future collaboration, particularly through training and seminars.
